 "GOD SPOKE TO ME TODAY"

Jerry W. Carmichael

If is not unusual in our world to hear those who claim to have received a message directly form God. Many so-called preachers make these claims daily. Many who have been near death’s s door claim to have received a special message from the Father Himself.                 The fact is that God speaks to me daily. Today He told me to tell you to "Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." He also said that "This promise is to you and to your children and to those who are afar off as many as the Lord your God will call."

To those who have already obeyed the Gospel, God sent you this message. "I beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace." He also wants us to " Live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age."

To those who are struggling with their Christianity, God wants me to tell you, "Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer. Indeed, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life."

To those who are feeling anger and hatred toward others God wants you to: "Be angry, and do not sin": do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the devil." He also wants you to: "Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men. If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, "Vengeance is Mine, I will repay," says the Lord. Therefore "If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head." Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good."

Yes, God spoke to me today and He wants you to know that He, “so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes on Him should not perish but have everlasting life."

Would you like for God to speak to you? Just pick up your Bible and read it. Within its pages is the God-breathed message for all of mankind. The scriptures are inspired of God. Holy men of old spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit and we have their messages written down in this fascinating book we call the Bible!

God no longer speaks directly to mankind in an audible voice. "God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son" (Hebrews 1:1-2). The words of the Son and all those whom He inspired to write His message are recorded in the Bible. "Therefore My people shall know my name; Therefore they shall know in that day that I am He who speaks: 'Behold, it is I" (Isaiah 52:6).

I ATTEND THE SUNDAY AND WEDNESDAY EVENING ASSEMBLIES BECAUSE:

1. I want to go, and I am wanted.

2. I need to go, and I am needed.

3. I had rather be there than anywhere else.

4. People are watching me and will follow my example.

5. My soul is strengthened by the teaching.

6. My heart is warmed by the spiritual songs as I praise God.

7. I am better prepared to meet in discussion those who do not understand the truth.

8. I hunger and thirst after righteousness.
