"EAT THE BOOK"

TEXTS:

Revelation 10:8-10 "Then the voice which I heard from heaven spoke to me again and said, "Go, take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel who stands on the sea and on the earth." So I went to the angel and said to him, "Give me the little book." And he said to me, "Take and eat it; and it will make your stomach bitter, but it will be as sweet as honey in your mouth." Then I took the little book out of the angel's hand and ate it, and it was as sweet as honey in my mouth. But when I had eaten it, my stomach became bitter. And he said to me, "You must prophesy again about many peoples, nations, tongues, and kings."

INTRODUCTION:

Song; ‘Tis The Bible: There's a book which surpasses the sages, a volume of wisdom divine, and the glory that gleams from its pages, no splendor on earth can outshine, 'Tis the light which will guide us to glory, the sword of the Spirit divine, and to dwell on its beautiful story is of Heaven the sweetest delight. It reveals where a fountain is flowing, which washes the soul from its stain. Age and sorrow are comforted knowing that with earth they will part from all pain. 'Tis the Bible, the Bible, Our guiding star which leads from earth to Heaven, the Bible, the Bible, We love the precious book of truth which God has given!

1. There are millions of books, pamphlets, and tracts in print about soul-wining.
2. There is only one source of material to learn the proper details about God.
3. There are only two ways for the lost and dying world to learn the contents of this book.

a) Read and study it for themselves.

b) Or for those who have read and studied it to teach it to them.

c) The Eunuch in Acts 8:30-31 used both methods , "Do you understand what you are

reading? How can I except that some man guide me?"

I. IT IS IMPORTANT TO EAT THE BOOK:

  1. Ezekiel 2:9-3:4
  2. Revelation 10:8-10

  8. 2 Timothy 2:15
  9. Acts 17:11 These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.

II.  EATING THE BOOK CAN LEAD TO YOUR OWN SALVATION:

  1. James 1:21-25 Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.
