WHAT JESUS HAS DONE, NOW DOES AND WILL DO IN THE FUTURE:

INTRODUCTION:
1. Every person has some unique qualities about him/her.
2. There is something about you that is different exclusive to you, that no one else has.
3. In the case of Jesus, there are many things that only He could claim.
4. John 3:16 "Only begotten" is translated from the word "mono-geneis" which means - "Unique, one of a kind".
5. Jesus the Christ the Son of God is the most important person to ever live on Earth
6. The unique qualities of most individuals don't really effect anyone but them.
7. In the case of Jesus though, we all benefit from those things that make Him unique.
8. What has Jesus done for us that no one else could ever do.
I.    WHO IS JESUS?
  A.  John 1:14 says He is God in the flesh.
        1.  His pre-existence proves it: (Jno.1:1ff; Heb.1:1-4); Abraham called Him "Lord"
        2.  His incarnation proves it: (Jno.1:14).
        3.  His resurrection proves it:  (Matt. 28:9-11; Jno.20:11-18; 1 Corinthians 15:3-9;
             Romans 8:11).
         4.  His ascension proves it: (Mark 16:19; Acts 1:9-11)
B. The Good Shepherd: John 10:10-15  "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep.  "But a hireling, he who is not the shepherd, one who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf catches the sheep and scatters them. "The hireling flees because he is a hireling and does not care about the sheep.  "I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own. 1"As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep.
C. The Humble Servant: Matthew 20:25-28  But Jesus called them to Himself and said, "You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those who are great exercise authority over them. "Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant. "And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave-- "just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many."
  D. Master teacher with all authority from God: Matthew 5-7; 7:28-29 (Matthew 28:18).
E. He is God in the flesh; The good Shepherd; The Humble servant; The Master Teacher with authority from God.

II. WHAT HAS JESUS DONE FOR ME:
A. He emptied Himself of the privilege of being equal with God:
1) Philippians 2:5-11
2) Jesus was part of the Godhead, equal with God the Father.
3) He didn't rob God of part of His power, but rather shared it with Him.
4) He gave up the rights, privileges and power of Heaven to come here.
5) He came here as a man of average means.
6) He was obedient, doing God's will in all things, including death on the cross.
7) He was exalted by God as a result.
8) He is now one to be reckoned with.
  B.  He matured and learned obedience through suffering:
1) 1 Peter 2:21-25  For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps:  "Who committed no sin, Nor was deceit found in His mouth";   who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously; who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness - by whose stripes you were healed. For you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
2) Hebrews 5:8-9 though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered. 9 And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him,
C.  Endured the betrayal of one of His own:
1) Matthew 26:47 -27:54: And while He was still speaking, behold, Judas, one of the twelve, with a great multitude with swords and clubs, came from the chief priests and elders of the people. Now His betrayer had given them a sign, saying, "Whomever I kiss, He is the One; seize Him." Immediately he went up to Jesus and said, "Greetings, Rabbi!" and kissed Him. But Jesus said to him, "Friend, why have you come?" Then they came and laid hands on Jesus and took Him.
D. Endured arrest by His enemies and offered no resistance: And suddenly, one of those who were with Jesus stretched out his hand and drew his sword, struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear. But Jesus said to him, "Put your sword in its place, for all who take the sword will perish by the sword.
E. Was taken before the High Priest:  And those who had laid hold of Jesus led Him
away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled.
F. Was dis-owned by his own inner circle: Then all the disciples forsook Him and fled. And Peter remembered the word of Jesus who had said to him, "Before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times." So he went out and wept bitterly.
G. Falsely accused: But at last two false witnesses came forward and said, "This fellow said, 'I am able to destroy the temple of God and to build it in three days." And the high priest arose and said to Him,
H. Sentenced to death: "What do you think?" They answered and said, "He is deserving of death."
I. Spat upon, mocked and beaten: Then they spat in His face and beat Him; and others struck Him with the palms of their hands, saying, "Prophesy to us, Christ! Who is the one who struck You?"
J. Tried unfairly. When morning came, all the chief priests and elders of the people plotted against Jesus to put Him to death
K. Unjustly kept in prison: And at that time they had a notorious prisoner called Barabbas. Therefore, when they had gathered together, Pilate said to them, "Whom do you want me to release to you? Barabbas, or Jesus who is called Christ?"
L. Mocked more: Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the Praetorium and gathered the whole garrison around Him. And they stripped Him and put a scarlet robe on Him. When they had twisted a crown of thorns, they put it on His head, and a reed in His right hand. And they bowed the knee before Him and mocked Him, saying, "Hail, King of the Jews!" Then they spat on Him, and took the reed and struck Him on the head.
M. Crucified:, "Truly this was the Son of God!"
1) 2 Corinthians 5:14-15:  For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; 15 and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.
2) Died for us!!!
III. WHAT DOES HE DO FOR ME NOW?:
A. Prepares a place (John 14:1-3)
B. Acts as a mediator between man and God
1) Job cried out for a mediator (Job 9:32).
2) 1 Timothy 2:5-6 For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus"
C. Saves & Intercedes
1) Hebrews 7:25 Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.
2) Romans 8:34 Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.
D. Cleanses - 1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
E. Adds - Acts 2:47 Praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.
F. Governs as the head of Church - Ephesians 1:22-23 And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.
IV. WHAT WILL HE DO FOR ME IN THE FUTURE?:
A. Come back and take the saved home with Him 1Thessalonians 4:16-18 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.
B. Destroy the Earth and everything in it: 2 Peter 3:10ff
C. Judge the world - Acts 17:30-31 Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, 31 because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead."
D. Punish the wicked and reward the righteous - Matthew 25:46
E. Turn the Kingdom back over to God the Father - 1 Corinthians15:24 Then comes the end, when He delivers the kingdom to God the Father, when He puts an end to all rule and all authority and power.
V.    WHAT DOES JESUS WANT ME TO DO?
  A.  Matthew 11:28-30 He wants me to come to Him and transfer my hard yoke and
heavy burden of sin over to Him.
  B.  Luke 14:25-35 He wants me to put Him first, before all else.
  C.  Matthew 28:18-20 He wants me to tell others about Him (Gospel instead of Gossip)

CONCLUSION:
1.  The person of Jesus attracts people.
2.  The sacrifice of Christ compels.
3.  Christ and Him crucified brings obedience of faith.
4.  1Corinthians 2:2  For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus
      Christ and Him crucified.
5. Romans 1:5  Through Him we have received grace and apostle ship for obedience to the faith among all nations for His name, among whom you also are the called of Jesus Christ;
6. In light of all that Jesus has done, is doing now and will do in the future, to ask us to be obedient children, cleansed by His blood is a small thing and a great privilege indeed!
