WALKING IN THE LIGHT

Lesson #2

INTRODUCTION:

1. I Jn 1:5-7

2. The Christian life is often described in words of action: running a race; fighting (1Cor.

9:26-27) ; Going to battle; etc. ]

3. In our text it is described as a walk in the light.

4. The Bible often uses this analogy for living the Christian life.

I. WALK BY FAITH: 2 Corinthians 5:7 "For we walk by faith and not by sight.

Walk, in this context means to live. Ephesians 4:1.

II. PAUL USED IT SEVERAL TIMES IN THE EPHESIAN LETTER:

A. Walked: Ephesians 2:2 Once, walked according to the course of the world.

B. Walk: Eph 2:10 Eph 4:1 Eph 4:17 Eph 5:2 Eph 5:8 Eph 5:15

III. PETER TELLS US ALSO Walk in His steps 1 Pet 2:21 For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps.

IV. JOHN :Walk in the light.

A. God is light: James called Him the Father of lights (1:17).

B. To walk in darkness is to walk in sin (vs.6)

C. Walk in the light because God is in the light.

D. Light: Matt 4:16 Matt 5:14 15  Luke 1:79 Luke 2:32 John 1:4 - 9 1 Pet 2:9

V. FELLOWSHIP WITH ONE ANOTHER:

A. With Jesus 1 Cor 1:9 I Jn 1:3

B. With each other

VI. THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST; GOD'S SON KEEPS ON CLEANSING US

CONCLUSION:

1.What a great and powerful lesson it is to learn that the blood is not just a one-time

thing.

2. How blessed we are to have fellowship with God .

3. And to be continually cleansed by the blood of His Son.
