REVELATION CHAPTER 6

INTRODUCTION:

1. We close chapter 5 after having found the Lamb who is worthy to give us the

encouraging news written within the Revelation.

2. In chapter 6 He begins to unveil the intended message.

I. THE FOUR HORSES OF WAR (VERSES 1-8):

A. The White horse:

  1. Not Christ on this one. This one is different from the one in chapter 19:11

    a) Rev 19:11-14 Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.

  2. The white horse is a sign of victory, Whoever is riding on the white horse is evil

and presently winning the battles, not the war, but the battles.

3) He has a bow, a weapon of war.

4) He has a crown, a prize for winning a victory.

5) He is a conqueror, he wins some battles.

  1. Each time we Christians fail to be what we should be.
  2. Each time we are silent when we should speak.
  3. Each time we hurt each other.
  4. Each time we compromise our faith.
  5. Each time a soul becomes weary and goes back into the world.
  6. Each time we fail to keep the main thing the main thing.
  7. Each time a soul dies outside the Lord.

B. The Red Horse:

  1. Evil is winning, and there is no peace in the land.
  2. When the evil one on the white horse enters the lives of men in a victorious

fashion, His red friend always accompanies him.

  1. No God No Peace, Know God, Know Peace!
  2. Bloodshed, crime, wickedness.
  3. Drugs, abuse of all kinds,
  4. Robberies, beatings all are a sign that the man on the white horse is winning the battle in that one’s life.

C. The Black Horse:

1) When the evil one is winning the victory in our lives, we have no peace,

2) There is also a time of famine, both physically and spiritually.

3) To stop the soldiers of the evil one we must feast on God's word and share it with a

lost and dying world.

  1. The Bible is God's word. "All Scripture is given by the inspiration of God"(2Tim.3:16). "But prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit" (2Pet.1:21).
  2. The Bible is profitable for: "doctrine, reproof, correction, and instruction in righteousness" (2Tim.3:16).
  3. One cannot be a complete "man of God" without the Bible (2Tim.3:17).
  4. The Bible is all the equipment or furniture needed "for every good work" (2Tim.3:17).
  5. The Bible contains "all things that pertain to life and godliness"

    (2Pet.1:3).

  6. One can only receive the blessings taught in the Bible by learning it and acting upon what it says: "But be doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves" (James 1:22). "Therefore, whoever hears these sayings of mine and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock..." (Mtt.7:24). "Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it; ..." (Rev.1:3).
  7. To benefit from the Bible and to meet God's approval, one must study its

teachings and meditate upon them continually. "Blessed is the man who walks not

in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat

of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he

meditates day and night" (Psalms 1:1-2). "Study to show yourself approved unto

God, a workman who needeth not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth"

(2Tim.2:15).

D. The Pale Horse:

1) When the evil is winning in our lives:

2) We have no peace,

3) We become spiritually hungry.

4) We die if we don't overcome!

  1. Millions die each year without Christ.
  2. The evil one wins the battle for their souls.

II. THE CRY OF THE MARTYRS: (VERSES 9-11)

  1. When the fifth seal is opened, we see those who have given their lives for the cause

of Christ.

B. In verse 1-8 it appeared that evil had won, but not completely!

C. Although they had lost their lives for the cause of Christ, they were the winners

because they did not give in to the evil warriors on the four horses.

D. They were told to "hold on", the Lamb would get His vengeance (Romans 12:19-21).

E. The evil warriors on the four horses had only won a skirmish or two, they were never

going to win the war!

III. THE MARTYRS GET THEIR ANSWER: (VERSES 12-17)

A. They had asked, "How long?" Now the vengeance of the Lamb is here.

B. The symbols of sun blackening, the moon as blood, stars falling, sky receding,

represent Kingdoms, and high-ranking officials falling from their lofty positions.

1) See Matthew 24:29-31

2) Isaiah 13:10; 34:4-5

3) Ezekiel 32:7-8

C. The lofty positions of those evil ones who think they have won the war between right

and evil WILL be destroyed by the Lamb.

D. They will be sorry they ever did evil against the children of the Lamb (Vss. 15-17).

E. Remain faithful, even if it means physical death, because the Lamb is coming back

and He will win the war!

CONCLUSION:

  1. Just because the evil one wins a few battles in your life, it doesn’t mean he is going to win the war.
  2. God will never leave you nor forsake you.
  3. Your battle may be a difficult one for now, but I promise it will get better.
  4. But only if you trust in the Lamb.
